If you have seen me as a client or consultee you have heard me go on (and on and on at times) about the benefits of trauma informed yoga in the healing of the trauma injury. It is wonderful adjunctive work and when practiced can bring mind, body, and spirit into gentle awareness of one another. Want to learn more? Check out this article from Dr. Bessel van der Kolk (author of The Body Keeps the Score and all sorts of other science and clinical based information on trauma and PTSD) which details he thoughts on yoga’s potential in healing.
Is yoga always blissed out and a piece of cake? Nope… When a client is working through trauma they are inviting change. And yoga can help with that change. And it can be an emotional and somatic journey. But a journey well worth it! I HIGHLY recommend finding a trauma informed yoga instructor to help you on your journey. If you are in San Clemente/ Orange County we are lucky to have Jamie Hanson as a local resource for in person classes (as quarantine allows). Good news! Jamie now was offering online classes on a drop in basis or a membership for those looking to add her classes to their healing routine. Check out these links to see if it would be a good fit for you!
Want to learn more about trauma healing and yoga? Let me know and I will work on more articles and YouTube videos on trauma informed yoga.
And you won’t believe it… I am on Instagram now! Follow if you like learning about EMDR, pics of flowers/the beach, and quotes with typos.
Wishing you well on your healing journey
